The Carbon library provides a high-performance, highly modular physics simulation framework designed for computational scalability and strict determinism. Rather than relying on monolithic object classes (e.g., a rigid body that internally manages its own rendering, collision, and integration), Carbon embraces a strict Building Block Architecture. By decoupling state integration, geometric boundaries, and interaction manifolds, the engine establishes a unified solver environment. This allows rigid mechanics, continuum soft body dynamics, kinematic boundary conditions, and fluid simulations to couple seamlessly within a single integration step.

This decoupling also makes Carbon a programmable simulation environment rather than a fixed-function physics engine: it provides the building blocks needed to automate mechanism design, explore new physical interactions, and evaluate control policies. Making Carbon uniquely powerful for RL by Experience.
